National youth services Corp (NYSC) PIONEER DIRECTOR ADVOCATES DEPLOYMENT OF CORPS MEMBERS TO AU NATIONS. The pioneer Director of National Youth Service Corp Col. (Dr) Ahmadu Ali has advocated the deployment of Corps Members to countries in the African region to expand the scope of its contribution to development.

This, he said, was in line with requests from such countries for Nigeria’s support in medical, education and other socio-economic areas.

He stated this today while speaking to newsmen at the opening ceremony of the sensitization workshop on National Youth Service Corps Act held in Abuja.

He said that the contributions of the national youth services Corp Members to Nation Development since its establishment over 46 years ago has made it more relevant to human capital development across the country.

“To those of us that know the beginning of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) we know that the Scheme is moving forward. Sometimes ago, some West African States said they need our Corps Members to assist them in teaching and medical related fields”, Ali added.

During his address he insist that the core objective of NYSC isn’t defeated as some suggested, today Nigeria supply labour to Liberia, Ghana, South African , Cameroon and other parts of African continents to mention but few.

The idea should be expand across Africa instead of settling only in Nigeria to foster unity among African nations, Nigeria Corp members lack job opportunities because of its congest and over populated areas of engagements,

The one year compulsory national youth service Corp is a nation building strategy that over the years has helped many youth in Nigeria.

Therefore I am of the opinion and strong argument that Nigeria can do better by enlarging the program to other parts of the continent Africa and beyond.
