NDDC CONTRACTORS CONDEMN ATTACKS ON MANAGEMENT The association of Rivers and Bayelsa Contractors of Niger Delta (RABCON) has condemned the needless attacks on the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The contractors in a statement endorsed by the trio of Chief Aaron Tamunokoriari Princewill, Engr. Zebb Tuordolor and Dr. Nyema Owhondah gave the condemnation over the weekend following the spate of spurious and baseless campaign being launched by some individuals against the management of the commission.

Describing the attacks as campaign of calumny, the body noted that the commission in the last five years had not received as much as N750 billion. So to accuse the management of sharing the sum of N750 billion within three months is completely mischievous and orchestrated falsehood aimed at tarnishing the image of the present management. “How much is the entire budget of NDDC in a year? How could they receive N750 billion in three (3) months?” they queried, adding that “this madness must stop”.

NDDC Contractors

The NDDC contractors (RABCON), which expressed satisfaction with the payments made by the management to low-level contractors, noted that the ill attacks on the management of the commission is being championed by a former Bayelsa State governor who is desperate to control the management of the commission from outside, so he can have his cronies appointed into the commission, adding that it is one reprehensible act among the people of the region to pull down one another.

“We are worried by this campaign because we the NDDC contractors of Rivers/Bayelsa are beneficiaries of this new board while the entire Niger Delta is bubbling with relief since they came. Our payments have been flowing unhindered and we are carrying out projects awarded to us with specification and proper supervision unlike in the past.” Declaring that the present management team comprises diligent and principled professionals, the group sued for peace and co-operation so the commission can continue its good works and not be distracted by “evil and misleading campaigns”.
