Update on covid-19 Nysc management and Corps Allawe-Greetings my fellow Ladies and Gentle Men Corps members. I wish to presume that we all are staying home and safe in this epoch of COVID-19 pandemic.

I decided to brief the house this evening in other to restore our mind back to the current issues and happenings in respect to the aforementioned headline.
Another factor that compelled the urgency of this briefing is anchored on the fact that most of us here are not abreast to information disseminating from our different newspaper dailies (both soft and hardcopy). Many have been questioning the authenticity and veracity of most buzzing information regarding NYSC amidst this COVID-19 pandemic.

Having cleared the air on the reason for this briefing, I will categorically discuss in headlines some of the information I wish to convey….

Just like the rumors that fast spread last month when the same COVID-19 appeared on some corps members dashboard, many uninformed miscreants were of the opinion that corps members are not going to be paid, citing that their alawee will be use to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
I want to assure and reassure us without gapping in any form of disbelief that the news is still as fake as the carrier. Kindly disregard the information as the management of NYSC scheme are going to pay her corps members their monthly stipend as at when due.

There is no gainsaying that the above caption has thrown many corps members into confusion as to what the management of NYSC is up to. Please be reminded that it has been fully and duly confirmed and stamped by the DG that Batch A stream 1 corps members are resuming camp to complete their paramilitary training as it constitute one of the major core of the scheme.
He noted that the Batch A, Stream 1 corps members who were already camping, but had to be hurriedly dismissed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, will be recalled back to their various orientation camps to complete the remaining part of the training

According to him,  “We don’t know when we are going to start mobilising our corps members. You know our training is also structured like that of the military and paramilitary. You can see that the Nigerian Navy recently suspended its training for its freshly recruited cadets”

*“So, the moment the coast is clear, we are going to key into the way others will conduct their exercise, so that our corps members can be called back soonest.”*

From the statement issued by the Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed and that of the Presidential Personal Assistant on Media, Femi Adesina on the extension of the gradual easing of the lock down and ban on interstate travelling by another two weeks, it becomes very obvious that the lock down saga would be over next month, but the date is what I can’t really pinpoint at the time of conveying this information.

There is a serious rumor fast circulating that schools will resume either on the 1st of June, 2020 or 8th of June, 2020. This information might not be far from the truth as it is some how in line FG workings on the lift of the lock down. Let’s keep our fingers crossed as more events unfold.

For those of us that redeployed and are yet to visit their new state of redeployment, there is every tendency that you’re going back to your original state of deployment to finish your camp experience after which you can report back to your new state of redeployment in other to avert some logistical issues…

Recently, most of us received a credit alert of 5k from the Nasarawa State Government with utmost surprise filled joy and happiness while others are so sad as the alert eluded their individual phone lines. Some have exhausted their patience in waiting for the miracle alert while other faith addicts are still expecting miracles to happen till date.

In line of the foregoing, those posted in Universities (State or Federal), Private firms, Medical Firms or Hospitals alongside other parastatas should expect their stipend from such establishment at the resumption of their PPA. Whether they will pay you for the already accumulated months consumed by COVID-19 is left for you guys to determine.
